Dr. Bajis Dodin

Dr. Bajis Dodin joined Alfaisal University in September 2013 as the Interim Dean for its College of Business. Prior to that he served in many academic and administrative positions in the School of Business at the University of California Riverside which is an integral part of the University of California (UC. These include Academic Associate Dean, chair of the faculty; manager of the AACSB accreditation project; Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, manager of the Business Incubator Project for the city and county of Riverside. He has been very instrumental in adding new programs and courses, and revising many others; and in hiring ladder rank faculty with and without tenure in addition to hiring many lecturers and staff members. He was a Fulbright Scholar for the year 1993/94, and the Director of the UC Education Abroad Center in Egypt for the years 2003/06. He also consulted for several organizations such as International Labor Organization of the UN, and worked for Pullman Standards of Chicago for four years. Dr. Dodin earned his Ph.D. from the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University at Raleigh in the area of Production Management and Operations Research. His main areas of research and teaching are Production & Supply Chain Management, Scheduling, and Project Management. He has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in these areas; and has conducted basic and applied research resulting in publications that appeared in the premier journals such as Operations Research, Management Science, IIE Transactions, European Journal of Operational Research, and The Accounting Review among others. He continued to be active in the leading professional organizations and the related chapters and conferences.

Abdel Monim Shaltoni

Dr. AbdelMonim Shaltoni has an extensive experience in the fields of marketing and e-business. He holds a PhD in e-marketing from the University of Birmingham/UK. Currently, he is the director of the undergraduate program at the college of business/Alfaisal University. Before starting his academic career, Dr. Shaltoni worked as marketing and business development manager for software houses. He spent a major part of his academic career as an assistant professor in marketing at the University of Petra/Jordan where he was also head and member in several councils/committees. Other teaching experiences were at the University of Westminster (London) and the University of Jordan (Amman). His research interests focus on the organizational adoption of e-marketing and marketing practices in developing countries where he secured research funds and published in international peer reviewed journals and conferences. Dr. Shaltoni taught courses at both the postgraduate and undergraduate levels. This includes, but not limited to: Marketing management, service marketing, consumer behaviour, e-marketing/internet marketing strategy, marketing research, special topics in marketing and e-business. Dr. Shaltoni has also conducted consultancy and training projects. He participated in several workshops and TV interviews related to e-marketing. Dr. Shaltoni was born in Germany; he completed his BA in business administration at the University of Jordan and MBA at the University of Leicester/UK.

Dr. Abdulaziz M. Alwathainani

Professor Alwathnani received his Ph.D. in Accounting with a minor in Finance from the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, 2006. His Ph.D. dissertation entitled "Do investors overreact to patterns of firms' past financial performance measures?" He holds a Master degree in Accounting with banking and finance concentration from Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University of Cleveland, OH, 1998. Before joining Alfaisal University, Professor Alwathnani was a tenured Associate Professor of Accounting at York University, Toronto, Canada. He had served on York faculty for eight years. Professor Alwathnani has both teaching and research interest in financial accounting and capital markets. His research draws on the cognitive psychology literature to study factors that affect investors' decision-making mechanism and how investors' psychology influences the market price discovery process. A well, his research interests includes financial reporting and corporate governance. His work has been published in high quality peer-reviewed journals such the British Accounting Review and the Journal of Behavioural Finance & Economics.

Dr. Adnan Abu Alhaija

Dr. Abu Alhaija is currently a visiting professor in the Department of Finance at Alfaisal University in Saudi Arabia, and a financial / investment consultant in the USA. Since January 2010 till July 2017, Dr. Abu AlHaija was a faculty member at the finance department at King Saud University (KSU) in Saudi Arabia. Besides teaching at KSU, Abu Alhaija was appointed as a Deputy Director of MBA and MBus programs in the period (2011-2013), and the Director of the PhD programs in the College of Business in the period (2015-2017). Additionally, he served as the Chairman of many committees at the department and college levels, such as the curriculum committee, research and graduate studies committee. Prior to joining KSU, Dr. Abu Alhaija was a visiting professor at the finance department in Bowling Green State University in Ohio- USA. Also, Abu Alhaija served as the dean of the college of Finance and Business Administration at Al al-Bayt University in Jordan in the period (2005-2008), and chaired the finance department during the period of (2004-2006). Dr. Adnan Abu Alhaija has a PhD in Finance from University of Vienna- Austria and Master Degree and Bachelor’s Degrees from Yarmouk University, Jordan. The primary research interests of Dr. Abu Alhaija are in areas related to stock markets and corporate investment, risk management and financial derivatives. He published many papers in peer-reviewed journals and attended several regional and international conferences.

Ahmed Alanazi

Dr. Ahmed Alanazi is the chair of the Finance department at the College of Business (CoB) at Alfaisal University since January 2016. Ahmed has accomplished his Ph.D. in Finance at Griffith University, Australia, 2013. His Ph.D. thesis titled "Three Essays on Initial Public Offerings: Evidence from the Six Countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council". The thesis was an extensive empirical and theoretical examination of the IPOs performances that occurred in the GCC region between 2003 and 2010. He has also emphasized greatly on research based work and has published many articles in prominent international journals such as the Applied Economics, the Multinational Financial Management and the Corporate Control and Ownership journals. His research interests extend to cover the financial markets in the GCC, IPOs and corporate governance. Currently, Dr. Ahmed is doing research on the profitability of technical analysis and Forex market. He has developed a new course, which is offered now at the CoB under the title “Financial Trading Strategies”. This course will give students an exposure to the real markets practice and trading.

Dr. Amal Hatem Jalawi is an Assistant Professor of Management and International HRM at the College of Business at Alfaisal University. She holds PhD in International Human Resource Management at Curtin University, Western Australia 2016. Her PhD thesis titled “The transfer of HRM policies and practices in American multinational hotels in Saudi Arabia”. The thesis investigates how factors originating from two institutional frameworks—cultural and comparative—may affect the process and outcomes of Human Resource Management Policy and Practice Transfers. Currently she is the Director of Human Resource at Mansard Hotel & Residencies. The Role included managing the human resources function; planning, developing and directing the human resources function at the hotel to attract, retain, develop and motivate employees in a cost effective manner in accordance to labour laws, policies & procedures standards of the hotel. Before joining Alfaisal University, she worked as Assistant Professor in Prince Nora University. She taught number of courses included “Human Resource Management; Business Ethics; Health Management”.

Dr. Anna Magdalena Angelin

Anna Angelin has a Ph.D. from School of Social Work, Lund University, Sweden where she currently also hold a position as Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer. Her main research interests are labour market and social policy studies. Her research also includes analyses of unemployment protection, benefit dependency and understanding of Human Service Organization performance in Social Welfare services. Dr Angelin was from 2013-2016 Head of Research for EconSec, Lund University Economic Security Institute, a cross-disciplinary research institute focusing on studies of the impact on economic security for individuals and society related to the increasing use of credit and debts. Major previous research projects has been a grant from EU FP 7 for the three year research project COPE which studied EU member states approaches to combating or reducing poverty and exclusion and the 4-year international research project “Youth Trajectories: A Longitudinal Study of Risk Factors for Marginalization in Finland, Norway and Sweden". Dr Angelin is living in Riyadh since 3 years and has worked as a consultant researcher for the World Bank on Social Policy development in KSA as well as continuing teaching and researching for Lund University. Dr Angelin started to work at Alfaisal University in 2018.

Dr. Jan (John) Smolarski

Dr. Smolarski has a Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of North Texas and has published over 20 articles in Review of Accounting & Finance, Journal of Accounting and Finance, Accounting & Finance and Asian Accounting Review and many others. Most recently, he was the Chair of the Department of Accounting and Business Law at the University of Texas Pan American and he was previously the Chair of the Finance Department, Associate Dean and Chief Academic Officer at Stockholm University School of Business. He also held an Endowed Chair, was appointed Eminent Scholar in Italy and was the Country President (Sweden) of the European Council of Small Businesses. Prior to joining academia, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Trema Treasury Management, a global mid-sized risk management software firm and has worked for several global firms such as Halliburton, Coca-Cola and Astra-Zeneca where he held numerous management positions. His consulting clients included 3i, Eqvitec Partners, Telia Ventures, Norsk Vekst (publ) AS, Ericsson (publ) AB, Kabi-Fresenius (Germany), Umicore (Belgium), China Mobile (China), Motorola (China), China Unicom (China), Microsoft (Sweden), and SHB (Sweden). Dr. Smolarski has served on the board of both private and public firms.

He worked as Deputy Director General for Research and Development at Jordan's Social Security Corporation where he had fundamental contributions to Jordan Social Security policy and reform. Dr. Al-Zoubi received his PhD in Finance from the University of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA in 2003. He worked as an associate professor of finance at United Arab Emirates University and as an assistant professor of finance at the Hashemite University. He has 23 papers published in highly ranked refereed academic journals like; Journal of Futures Markets, International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Finance, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, the Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, and Applied Economics.

Dr. Hayfaa Tlaiss is the Chair of the Management Department and an Associate Professor of Strategy and Organizational Behavior at the College of Business at Alfaisal University. She holds a PhD from Manchester Business School, a Diploma of University Teaching from University of New Brunswick, Saint John, a Master's in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Lebanese American University. Dr. Tlaiss also passed her Financial Risk Management (FRM) exam and level II of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. Prior to joining Alfaisal University, Dr. Tlaiss held various teaching and administrative positions at University of New Brunswick, Saint John, Odette Business School, University of Windsor, University of Manchester, Lebanese American University, Institute for Financial Analysts, and others. Dr. Tlaiss has published several book-chapters and her articles have appeared in top tier, peer-reviewed journals including Journal of Business Ethics, International Small Business Journal, and International Journal of Human Resource Management. Her research has received international attention and has been widely recognized through various awards including the "Outstanding Paper Award by the Literati Network Awards for Excellence" in 2012 and the Academy of Management (AOM) award for the best symposium in the "Management Education and Development" division in AOM's annual meeting in 2009. Dr. Tlaiss is actively involved with the business world through her consultancy and training activities. She has also chaired a number of international meetings and serves on the editorial/organizing boards and as a reviewer for several journals and conferences. She also serves as a director on the Board of Directors of a number of for profit and non-profit organizations. Dr. Tlaiss teaches a number of courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels, and delivers international workshops to professionals and managers. Dr. Tlaiss is particularly interested in conducting research and supervising students interested in researching strategy, career studies and organizational development, entrepreneurship, diversity and management related issues in developing countries, emerging economies and the Middle East.

Dr. Bustami joined Alfaisal University in January 2018 as Associate Professor of Healthcare Management (HCM) and is currently in charge of the MBA - HCM Track. He holds a PhD in Biostatistics from the School of Public Health, University of Leuven, Belgium, and MBA in HCM from Stillman School of Business, Seton Hall University, New Jersey, USA. He did his postdoctoral training at the Department of Methodology and Statistics, Utrecht University, the Netherlands, from 2000-2001 and worked as a Senior Consultant at a not-for-profit Health Research Organization in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, 2001-2006. Dr. Bustami’s teaching and research experience spans 20+ years across a number of highly reputable academic and research institutions in USA and the Middle East. His current research is focused on Health Services Management, Health Services Research and Healthcare Quality. After earning his PhD in 2000, Dr. Bustami served as a senior HCM and Biostatistics Consultant on several Federal Committees on Health Policy within the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). He also held the positions of Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), New York, and Manager of Biostatistics Research Support Services at Atlantic Health System (AHS), New Jersey, 2006-2014. Dr. Bustami also served as Associate Professor and Consultant of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at King Saud Bin Abdul-Aziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS), Riyadh, KSA, 2015-2017. He has presented at numerous national and international conferences and scientific meetings and has published over 85 articles in high-impact peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and proceedings. Dr. Bustami served as a lead investigator in numerous public health and HCM research projects and is internationally recognized through his service as a senior consultant on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Review Panel for Population Health and Health Disparities grant applications. He is also a member on several executive committees on HCM, public health, clinical research and biostatistics education.

He holds a joint PhD in marketing from the University of Padova (Italy) and ESCP Europe Business School (Berlin, Germany), with the special mention of "Doctor Europaeus". He earned his BSc in economics and management at LUSPIO University (Rome, Italy), his MSc in European business at ESCP Europe Business School (Berlin, Germany) and his MA in management at the University of Trento (Italy). His research, which has been published in recognized scientific journals such as the Journal of Brand Management and the International Journal of Market Research, is primarily focused on international marketing, country of origin, mass customization, e-commerce, and social media. Furthermore, Dr. Aichner is the co-author of the book "Mass Customization: An Exploration of European Characteristics".

Dr. Necati Aydin

Dr.Aydin is an associate professor of economics at Alfaisal University. He received his bachelor's degree in Public Finance, master's degree in International Economics, and two doctoral degrees, one in Education and the other in Economics. He worked as a researcher at Florida State University and Florida TaxWatch Research Institute for nine years after receiving his first doctoral degree. He also taught at Florida A&M University and Tallahassee Community College for several years. He had worked at King Saud University for 3.5 years before moving to Alfaisal in August 2014.
Dr.Aydin has conducted research in variety of topics including local and state government budget analysis, economic impact studies, tourism, higher education, virtual education, information technology, and Medicaid. He has published theoretical and empirical papers on these matters. He presents his works through conferences and seminars at top universities around the world including Harvard and Cambridge. In total, Dr. Aydin has completed over forty research projects; authored seven, translated two, and co-authored three books; and published many peer-reviewed articles. Dr.Aydin currently focuses on Islamic economics, human nature, subjective well-being, neureconomics. He is currently directing two two-year research projects worth of nearly one million riyals funded by KACST. He has published in top academic journals including Journal of Business Ethics, International Journal of Social Economics, International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management etc.
In the field of teaching, Dr.Aydin has experience of almost teaching all economics courses at graduate and undergraduate levels including financial econometric, managerial economics, micro- and macro-economics, advanced economic analysis, labor economics, international economics, etc. He has received teaching excellence grants and awards few times. He has developed and conducted several effective teaching workshops at different universities.

Dr. Mario Ferrer is the Chair of the Operations and Project Management Department and an Assistant Professor in Operations Management in the College of Business. He teaches courses in logistics and supply chain management, operations management, and quality management. His PhD in Supply chain management is from CQ University in Queensland Australia. Dr Ferrer graduated with a BSc in Industrial Engineering UN, and MBA in e-business (with Distinction) from Central Queensland University Australia. His current research focuses on product and service supply chain practices in emerging economies. He has been an active member of the European continuous innovation network (CInet), the Australian Logistics Association (LAA), Chartered Instituted of Logistics and Transportation (CILT) and Intellectbase consortium. Dr. Ferrer has been an invited reviewer for conferences such as the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM), Intellectbase, CInet and Latin American and Caribbean Engineering institutions (LACCEI) as well as for Journals such as the International Journal of Technology Management. He is the author of one textbook and has published more than 50 academic articles, as well as producing technical reports for several organizations in Australia and Colombia. The first edition of his recent book, Building supply chain Relationships: An exploration of the predictive relational factors and benefits was published in November 2011.

He gained a number of professional certificates in Business Management and IT including: Lean Six Sigma, PMP, ITIL, IT Project+, CISA, OCP, and MCP. Dr. Kafaji has over 20 years of work experience, in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain. His areas of expertise and research include MIS, IT Governance, PMO, Program/Project Management, System & Business Analysis, System Selection, IT Audit, Database Management, Business Continuity Management, and Business Processes, Policies & Procedures. He developed and managed specialized undergraduate and postgraduate courses in management information system, project management, operations, and technology management. In research, Dr. Kafaji conducted highly specialized state-of-the-art research projects that resulted in the publication of over 40 papers. At Alfaisal University, Dr. Kafaji current research areas are management information systems, project management, and operations management. He supervised graduation research projects for 36 MBA Students.

In addition to research and teaching, Dr. Kafaji has strong consultancy experience gained from working with two of the big-four firms; Ernst & Young and KPMG. These roles gave Dr. Kafaji hands-on experience in business development, leadership, strategy development, project management, system implementation, and IT Governance. These experiences helped to enrich teaching practices plus added abilities to integrate people, process, and technology to drive changes and achieve strategic alignment with business goals and objectives.

Rahma Lahyani

Dr Rahma Lahyani is an Assistant Professor of Operations Management and Management Science at the College of Business at Alfaisal University in Riyadh. She has obtained her Ph.D. degree in the field of Operations Research from École Centrale de Lille, France and has held postdoctoral fellowships at the Interuniversity Research Centre on Enterprise Networks, Logistics and Transportation (CIRRELT) at Laval University, Quebec, Canada, and at École Centrale de Lille, France. Dr. Lahyani taught several courses for the graduate engineering program at École Centrale de Lille and several graduate and undergraduate courses at Alfaisal University in quantitative methods and operations management. Her research interests are in the broad field of logistics. Particularly, she has developed research on mathematical programming, and developing meta- and matheuristics, as well as exact algorithms to solve theoretical and rich practical problems arising in the supply chain management. She has published book chapters and scientific papers in high quality peer-reviewed journals such as Omega, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Research and Euro Journal on Combinatorial Optimization. She has received international academic awards, excellence grants and research grants. She currently co-supervises graduate and undergraduate students from Laval University, and she is qualified for Associate Professor positions in France in the fields of Computer Engineering and Automation. She serves as referee for international conferences and peer reviewed scientific journals.

Robert Zacca is Assistant Professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at Alfaisal University, Saudi Arabia. Prior to this he held an assistant professor position at the United Arab Emirates University. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Tulane University, New Orleans, his M.B.A. from Plymouth State University, New Hampshire and his Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from Cracow University of Economics, Poland. His current research investigates the drivers and enablers of innovative enterprises and corporate entrepreneurship. He has won a National Research Foundation grant from UAE and his work has been published in Management Decision, Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing, International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Creativity and Innovation Management, Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management, International Journal of Organizational Analysis, IEEE International Technology Management Conferences and elsewhere. He was awarded the Alfaisal University Research Excellence Reward for 2016-17, the College of Business, Shell Saudi Arabia outstanding research award for 2015-16 and has been recognized with an outstanding research award for a paper acceptance in a top ranked journal in 2014. Additionally, his coauthored paper was nominated for the best paper award in the Creativity and Innovation Management Journal for the year 2013. He is a research team leader and capable mentor able to transmit his passion and talent for research to young scientists. Furthermore, he has extensive industry experience managing and operating organizations as well as in business consulting. His teaching interests include entrepreneurship, management of innovation and strategic management.

Mr. Neal Johnson graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the Harvard Law School in 1984, and with a bachelor's degree magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1980. Currently Neal Johnson is Group General Counsel to Mawarid Holding Company. Mawarid Holding Company is a diversified Saudi Arabian conglomerate with interests in television, telecommunications, manufacturing, wholesale distribution, financial services, and various retailing operations. Mr. Johnson has been with Mawarid for the past twenty-four years. In 2001 through the first quarter of 2002 Mr. Johnson was (Acting) President and Chief Executive of Orbit Television, a Mawarid affiliate. Prior to joining Mawarid, Mr. Johnson was a lawyer with the United States law firm Jones Day. Mr. Johnson was with Jones Day in New York and in Riyadh. Mr. Johnson currently is a member of the board of directors of Orbit Holding Company, and from 1993 through 2009 he was a member of the board of the Orbit Satellite Television and Radio Network. He is a director of many closely held corporations. He was a member of the Advisory Board of the Rasmala Fund, a Dubai-based private equity fund. Mr. Johnson was Chairman of the Middle East Council of American Chambers of Commerce, and is a former Chairman of the American Business Group of Riyadh. Mr. Johnson is a member of the board of the Harvard Alumni of Saudi Arabia, and he serves as University Liaison Officer for the board. He is an official prospective student interviewer for Harvard College. For the past five years Mr. Johnson has been affiliated with the College of Business, AlFaisal University in Riyadh. He teaches an introductory business law course and has taught an upper level seminar on governance of family owned enterprises in the College of Business at AlFaisal University. Mr. Johnson was born in Salem, Oregon, USA and was raised in Montana, USA. He has lived and worked in London, New York, Riyadh, Rome, Rotterdam, Sao Paulo, Seoul, and Washington.
